Samsung posts record quarterly profits

Samsung has announced it made 4.28 trillion won in the second quarter of 2010, mainly due to improved sales in its components business and of its smartphones.


A dissolving microneedle patch has been developed for vaccinations, which could signal the end to the use of sharp needles and the need for vaccines to be administered by medically-trained professionals.


According to latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), UK new car sales increased by 10.8% in June compared with the same month last year.


British ingredients company Tate & Lyle has announced that it is to sell its EU sugar refining operations to American Sugar Refining for £211 million payable in cash.


Dutch firm AkzoNobel has announced the sale of its National Starch business to Corn Products International in a $1.3 billion (£877m) deal.
